Me and Julio

As a serious football fan I've spent a many hours doing what my wife calls "looking up football stats."
Monday is the killer, I can spend 3 hours on just recaps and box scores. As a way to be more efficient on monday morning I'm going to select one player from one of my two fantasy football teams and draw them, preferably one that performed well.

This may be regressing as far as art subjects, as I drew football players for most of my childhood. This week we have fantasy darling Julio Jones from my "Beast Mode of Burden" team. Julio had 2 touchdown catches and 108 receiving yards yesterday.

Viking's Stadium

I've finally finished my storyboards depicting opening day for the new Minnesota Vikings Stadium! I say finally, because I've been toying around with sketches of a Vikings stadium, resembling a Vikings Ship, for about 3-4 years now. After scrapping the idea several times I revived the concept again this winter. Only, instead of straight up architectural renderings I would show the different stadium views in sequence, something I'm a little more familiar with. Plus, I get a portfolio piece for my sequential work.
Most people would likely be coming towards the game from the other side west of the field, but this angle effectively shows the "front" while getting an idea of what the stadium would look like against the Minneapolis skyline.

This model does not feature it, but for those afraid of the outdoor elements the panels between the "oars" could elevate and meet overhead making a roof. Why not?
Like every significant fortress/stadium a moat is needed. During winter months an ice rink would be appropriate.

The Great Minnesota Get-Together

I was recently among five finalists for this year's Minnesota State Fair commemorative art poster. My near completed poster was not selected but just being a finalist was exciting.

Until working on this I never realized how difficult cows were to draw. Well, at least in an expressive way, as cows are rarely seen doing anything but grazing and lying down. This gave me an excuse to look at Ferdinand the Bull which was awesomely illustrated by Robert Lawson. Seth Godin's Purple Cow "Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable" also served as an inspiration.

Peyton

It has been a long while since I posted anything new on Illustratin'.  With Peyton Manning in the news just thought I'd share a drawing I did a couple of months ago.
